This is the original home Chesley Bonestell built for him himself and lived in from 1914 to 1976. Chesley Knight Bonestell, Jr. (January 1, 1888 – June 11, 1986) was an American painter, designer and illustrator. His paintings were a major influence on science fiction art and illustration, and he helped inspire the American space program. An early pioneering creator of astronomical art, along with the French astronomer-artist Lucien Rudaux, Bonestell was dubbed the "Father of Modern Space Art". Chesley Bonestell was also commissioned to act as chief architect for various famous American engineering marvels such as the New York Chrysler Building and the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. This property also reflects the style and architect of Chesley Bonestell as it stands out in the Claremont Hills as a gem of the early Twentieth Century. A true Bay Area architectural treasure.
