The Artists Retreat is in NW Portland, before the bridge to Willamette Heights and Forest Park. This historic house was initially built as a single-family home in 1906 and was converted into a duplex with 2 one-bedroom apartments in the1940s. The upstairs flat is for rent, and I live in the downstairs apartment. The apartment for rent comes unfurnished, however, the photos pictured were taken last year before I moved to the downstairs flat. The apartment is unique, creative, and special. I have added many artistic touches over the years, such as the faux antique French fireplace mantle (not a working fireplace), the Italian pink marble bath surround, the copper rain shower, the concrete built-in bathroom countertop with storage, and the excavated 1940s bathroom wallpaper. There are incredible views of Mt. St. Helens and Mt.Hood There is a full common basement, designated storage, and a washer/dryer. Another flight down is the wonderful backyard garden and patio shared by both apartments. A parking spot is available in the driveway. The number 15 bus stops out front and services downtown and the east side. McClay Park, Balch Creek, and numerous Forest Park hiking trails are steps outside the front door. I will accept a small dog. My home is truly a creative retreat, I am an artist and have a painting studio on the premises. I am looking for a responsible, sober-minded person who is quiet and respectful of the shared living space. Amenities include central heat, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, basement storage, laundry in the building, a yard, views, and a parking spot. Utilities included: water and garbage.
